On the Nature of Trapo Politicians and their Politics

(this article is a response to the Trapo article of Antonio Abaya entitle Trapo versus Non-Trapo, Jlu 1, 2009 Standard Today)

1. The worst kind, they use guns, goons and gold to buy votes, to intimidate opponents and force their undemocratic will to the public. The gold, include their ill gotten wealth;

2. As what Mr. Abaya said, they promote, tolerate or even sustain the culture of political dynasties in the public because they belong to the 200 or 500 families of political dynasties in alliance to the economic hold of their families in the Philippines from North to South who do not have the intention to break the cycle of feudalism in this country.

3. The politicians who love to eat so much; spend in five star hotels during their junket trainings without out puts; use expensive vehicles at the expense of public funds while their constituents are poor enough to bring their children inside the school located several kilometers away from their barrios, no safe water to drink, no food in their table, no hospitals, no options to mobility up to their aging years or even no money to spend to provide their love ones a decent funeral or grave yard in times of death.

4. They promote the idea that dynasties are destiny and therefore they have the natural right to inherent political power. It pave the way to the rise of batang trapo in the sangguniang kabataan, barangay, municipal council, local offices and even in the national centers of power such as the Senate and Congress.

5. The politicians who build their political power from their empty promises and press releases for the benefit of the enchanted ignorant and manipulated poor segments of the society.

They talk a lot about issues that they do not really understand; they promise a lot which they cannot do; they give false hope to the hopeless. In fact, we can consider they as children of the anti-Christ genes.

6. They release funds for unimplemented projects for several years during the time when election is already near; you can see their giant tarpulins and bill boards; love to shake your hands, kiss your kids in front of cameras, flash their plastic smiles with you; give alms and medical missions in the community but you cannot find them after they are elected.

You cannot talk to them or even see them after elected; often they are not in their office;

And their employees? Sometimes they are equally arrogant; waiting for their turn to build their own political power founded too on empty promises and press releases!!!

We need a generation to change this and sadly I feel that it will not happen in this life time.
