My Belief on Democracy and Our Sense of Being a Filipino

I believe in the institution of Philippine Democracy!

I strongly believe that its sacred pillars must be enhance and strengthen:

I believe that there should be an equal observance of socio-cultural and economic rights as well as civil and political rights of every citizen across generation...

I believe in the freedom of speech - regardless of ideology and beliefs. I believe that public forum and consultation must arrive in a sound and efficient but sensitive policy for all. That conflict must be resolved through confrontations of best platform in the parliamentary forum.

I believe in Freedom of Assembly and right of all to organize - regardless of ideology as long as it does not advocate terrorism and chaos, this inherent right must be respected.

I believe in freedom of religion - each individual must not sanction based on his religious choice.

I believe that the right to life must be respected - the culture of death should not be tolerated and killings of innocent and non-combatants should not be encouraged regardless of their ideology.

I believe in Academic Freedom – where democracy and freedom must encourage in the halls of classrooms and academic exercises for the pursuit of liberating knowledge from ignorance and prejudice.

People's empowerment must encourage - that political dynasty although not sanctioned yet formally should not be encouraged in the name of politics of addition, transaction and connection.

I believe in Economic freedom and mobility - that every individuals should be given fair opportunity to grow as an individual, be productive, creative and contributory in the life of society.

Safety, health and security - that individuals should be free from fear against their will, dignity, life and property. That their drinking water are accessible and safe, hospitalization are more open to public and the right to a safe and healthy workplace and settlement are observe by our democratic society.

Sustainable environment - that the natural and human ecosystem are not exploited to the point that the future children will not be able to feel the mentioned freedom above so that their children and their children inherent a proud heritage of decency, safety and tolerance.

A government of the people, by the people and of the people where the sovereign will is people power and not the power from a few families. A patriotic foreign policy where policy makers respect themselves and love their people so that foreign countries will also respect us.

Looking from this personal belief, our own democracy that is supposed to be becoming stronger seems to be under attack by various forces who narrowly understand their sense of being a Filipino that is why they betray their countrymen in fact kill them just because they don't understand what power sharing and distribution is all about.
